What is a duet?

What is a duet? Essentially a dance performed by two people that couldn't be danced seperately.Yet it's so much more... Relaionships: couple in love, violence, contact, alternating converstation. It goes together like light and dark, sea and sand, like a jigsaw(interlocking parts). What do you think?

    Are you suggesting that a duet should be two opposing components like love and hate? Or can two dancers in a duet be complimentary to each to other?

    not at all. of course you can have an opposing form if you want but on the other side to that is the complimentary...and then everything in between. There's so much a duet can be and yet there's always that fine line between a duet and two people dancing on stage at the same time. There has to be some connection between the two dancers. Unless the subject matter is to ignore the other. The possibilities are endless.
